The Stanford Linear Accelerator Research Support Building 52 is a new 65,000 sq ft, three-story office building that will house the campus’ control room for the multiple accelerators on campus. BMC was contracted to provide both the HVAC and plumbing scopes of work on this project. The state-of-the-art mechanical system will utilize two chiller plants to provide an extensive hybrid hot water/chilled water system throughout the building. Two air handlers on the roof will provide tempered air into the building through 130 hot water VAV boxes, which in turn, will provide air to 300 chill beams throughout the building. On the plumbing side, BMC provided complete installations of the Sanitary Waste and Vent, Storm, Domestic Cold Water, High Pressure Cold Water, and Hot Water Supply and Return plumbing systems. The project will be completed within an aggressive 21 month phased schedule. The project will also be pursuing a LEED® Gold certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.
