Sheet Metal Detailing Manager

Donald McKinnon is the Manager of the Sheet Metal Detailing Department at Broadway Mechanical-Contractors, Inc. Donald is responsible for overseeing all work performed by the detailing department, including ensuring that accurate virtual models are generated for each project, leading coordination efforts between owners, architects, and other trade contractors, assigning projects to detailers within the department, reviewing work for quality control, and identifying opportunities for value engineering.

Donald began his sheet metal career in 2000 in Livermore, immediately after graduating from Johansen High School. Donald worked as a detailer at Control Air North before coming on board with BMC. Since joining us in 2015, Donald has overseen significant growth of the detailing department increasing the number of detailers 2 to over 6 and implementing full BIM coordination on every project. Donald has been a member in good standing of Local 104 since 2000. Donald holds certifications in CAD-Mech, Est-Mech, Est-Duct, CAD-Duct, CAM-Duct, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit and Trimble. In his free time, Donald supports the ICES Student Exchange and Academic Programs and hosts multiple students throughout the year.
